Installation for Magic Show, the BTS kpop band-themed show at Factory Media Centre. The piece paired a six-foot wide layering paper form with a circular mirror in the middle, with an 18-minute projected video of looping and evolving circular video clips of organic materials– flowers blooming and fading, fire billowing, waves crashing, sweat beading, hands reaching. Video sources include the band’s existing music videos, original imagery created by me, collage clippings, and public domain film. Once it was projected across six feet, the forms felt like a portal or window to another world. A nice surprise was seeing the projection reflected off the central mirror onto the opposite wall in a perfect circle– creating a small moon to watch over the viewers as they engaged with the show.
